Roger McGough

A big ‘thank you’ to Roger McGough who wrote this poem and recorded the video below especially for Royston Arts Festival 2020.

‘A Cautionary Tale’ by Roger McGough
This morning I threw caution to the wind.

Unfortunately, the wind dropped suddenly
And caution crashed to the ground.

I tried to put it together again
But like Humpty, it couldn’t be put
So, I threw the pieces into grandad’s shed
Making sure the door was shut

Now I’m off in search of adventure
Headstrong and devil-may-care
Impetuous and reckless
Come join me if you dare!
